HIT THE ROAD, JACKSON: After an inaugural indoor season that featured more than few nationally ranked performances, the B&Ts have kicked off the outdoor season with a team road race at the Ras na hEireann 5k in Somerville.
Elites, joggers, moms, bartenders and walkers all had just one thing to say: "Damn, I just got passed by another black kit, who are those black & tans?"
Good times flowed with the Guinness and great food at the after party at the friendliest pub in Arlington.

Ranked in the top 3 in the USA in both the 800m and Mile. Christopher Simpson takes 'em all on.
Ready and able.
In this day and age of uncertainty, economic upheaval and corporate consolidations we need to report that even upstart athletics organizations are not immune. Change has become a way of life for all of us- even the Black & Tan TC.
OK, we are not talking bankruptcy or the sacking of founding members in attempt to downsize or eliminate variable costs. This change is a cultural one and we are afraid to say, long over due.
When we launched the Black & Tan TC we did it as a celebration of all things Boston, track & field and let's face it, the Guinness that normally flows when you pair the two. Enthusiasts we are, maybe even eccentrics, but unfortunately not historians. It soon became clear to us that the name that we chose to celebrate all things Boston/Track/Irish Beer had a very different connotation to some.
Little did we know the thuggish history of the real "black and tans" and what they represented to the early 20th Century Irish. And now that we do we say "f that."
And that brings to an end the short but illustrious story of the Black & Tan TC. But the dream is not over. We are back on the track, and invite you to come along. But this time under a flag that is as Boston as a medium regular at Dunks:
THE ELIOT TRACK CLUB.
See you on the track.
